If the hallmarks are on the reverse then the actual cufflinks themselves can be engraved as well as the case. If you are going for the more subtle approach then having the cufflinks on the back means that only the case can be engraved. Please write you're engraving requirements below, and remember, you can write different things on individual cufflinks if you like.
